Capital Grants Scheme Reopens

As of 3rd July 2025, the Capital Grants scheme has officially reopened for applications. This round introduces £150 million in funding opportunities for farmers, land managers, and rural businesses across England. Therefore, if you want to benefit, act quickly.

This is a first come, first served offer, so early action is essential. In other words, don’t delay, apply as soon as possible.

What’s New (and What’s Not)

Several changes have been introduced, while some rules remain the same:

  • Funding Caps Introduced: Depending on the options selected, new caps of £25,000 or £35,000 now apply.
  • Rates Remain the Same: Most payment rates per option appear unchanged from previous rounds.
  • One Application Per SBI Per Year: Be strategic, only one application is allowed per Single Business Identifier annually.
  • No Double Dipping: If you already have a live CS capital agreement, you cannot reapply for that parcel until the previous claim is completed, claimed, and paid.
  • CSFO Endorsements Still Required: Some options still require a Catchment Sensitive Farming Officer (CSFO) visit and endorsement, which could introduce delays, so plan ahead to avoid bottlenecks.

What Can You Apply For?

Moving forward, there are 78 items available across six groups:

  • Air Quality
  • Assessments
  • Boundaries, Trees & Orchards
  • Natural Flood Management
  • Improvements
  • Water Quality

Additionally, this round introduces new items, including:

  • Woodland assessments
  • Wildfire checklists
  • Stone wall repairs
  • Educational access hosting

These grants aim to support practical environmental improvements, from hedgerow planting and habitat restoration to water quality enhancements and natural flood management. Consequently, they offer a great opportunity to improve both your farm and the environment.
