Why our partnership with Ceres Property matters to you

Sep, 01 2022As you know, in March 2021, we launched Ceres Rural, offering independent advice to farmers and landowners across the south and east of England. Established at a time of unprecedented change in the farming industry, we’ve been able to provide unrivalled knowledge and expertise to help farmers and landowners navigate through this challenging period.
In October 2021, Ceres Property was formed with two key objectives. Firstly, to work alongside us offering a more specialised range of services to clients, many of which can only be delivered by individuals holding a chartered surveyor qualification. Secondly, to enable the two businesses to harmoniously provide a full 360° service model to the rural economy. In practice this means that from initial identification of an issue or opportunity, through to execution and onwards management, Ceres Rural and Ceres Property can be your constant sounding voice.
Let us give you an example. Mr Temple is the farm manager of an 800 acre farm in Cambridgeshire. Mr Temple and Mr Hall (the landowner) have appointed Ceres Rural as their agronomist. Ceres Rural also offers strategic consultancy to Mr Hall on an ad hoc basis. Through their work, Ceres Rural has identified that two of Mr Hall’s farm buildings are no longer fit for purpose. They have also identified a potential location for a new grain store. Ceres Rural calls on Ceres Property to assess the existing buildings’ potential for commercial use and requests their expertise evaluating the new site’s suitability. Together Ceres Rural and Ceres Property produce a report to advise Mr Hall and Mr Temple on the best course of action. With the plan agreed, Ceres Property manages the commercial lease of the existing buildings, assists in the planning application process for the new store and advises on the renewable energy options to power the buildings. Ceres Rural helps ensure the new store is not only fit for purpose, but also maximises the opportunity the new building offers, both for the immediate and long-term future of Mr Hall’s business.
This is just one example of how the two businesses complement each other to deliver first class business solutions to farmers and landowners. Ultimately the competitive advantage the joint Ceres effort has is that not only will you be regularly asked “have you considered this?”, “I heard about this legislation that is affecting you, can we talk about the impacts and opportunities?” and “this has come to the market, are you interested?”, you will also be offered a service that can deliver the work following the answers to these questions.
We know that questioning and challenging our clients is an important aspect of adding value to the businesses we like think of ourselves as custodians of. But we also know that this alone can be daunting and overwhelming, which is why our 360° service model is such an important part of our difference. Bring us on your journey. Let us guide you. Let us deliver the solution.
