Launching Ceres Rural

In March 2021, we launched Ceres Rural. Our goal was clear: to provide independent advice to farmers and landowners across the south and east of England.

At that time, farming was undergoing unprecedented change. Since then, we’ve delivered unrivalled knowledge and expertise to help clients navigate this challenging period.

Introducing Ceres Property

By October 2021, Ceres Property was formed with two clear objectives:

  • Firstly, offer a specialised range of services requiring chartered surveyor qualifications.
  • Secondly, work alongside Ceres Rural to deliver a full 360° service model to the rural economy.

In practice, this means we support clients from identifying an issue or opportunity, through to execution, and onwards management. Ultimately, Ceres Rural and Ceres Property act as your constant sounding board.

How It Works: A Real Example

For instance, Mr Temple manages an 800-acre farm in Cambridgeshire. The landowner, Mr Hall, and Mr Temple appointed Ceres Rural as their agronomist. Additionally, we provide Mr Hall with strategic consultancy on an ad hoc basis.

Through our work, we identified two farm buildings that were no longer fit for purpose as well as a potential site for a new grain store. Consequently, Ceres Rural called on Ceres Property to assess the old buildings for commercial use and evaluate the new site’s suitability.

Together, we produced a report advising Mr Hall and Mr Temple on the best course of action. Once agreed, Ceres Property managed the commercial lease of the old buildings, assisted with the planning application for the new store, and advised on renewable energy options. Meanwhile, Ceres Rural ensured the new store was fit for purpose and maximised its long-term potential for Mr Hall’s business.

Why Our Partnership Matters

This example clearly demonstrates how the two businesses complement each other to deliver first-class solutions. Our competitive advantage? We don’t just ask:

  • “Have you considered this?”
  • “This legislation could affect you – shall we discuss the impacts and opportunities?”
  • “This has come to market – are you interested?”

Instead, we also deliver the work that follows those conversations.

Adding Value Without Overwhelm

Ultimately, we believe questioning and challenging clients adds real value. However, we know this can feel daunting. That’s precisely why our 360° service model matters.

So, bring us on your journey. Let us guide you. Let us deliver the solution.
