George Catchpole

Associate | Saffron Walden

George spent the first part of his working life with a 9-year career playing professional rugby with Leicester Tigers which was curtailed by injury. After a stint studying for a PGCE and teaching English Literature, he joined Ceres Rural as a farming consultant in 2022.

George is a BASIS and FACTS qualified agronomist, assisting growers across a variety of farming systems and practices in the South East. In many instances, this work overlaps with Contract Farming Agreement management, environmental consultancy and grant advice. Much of George’s work is focused on marrying the latest funding opportunities, such as the Sustainable Farming Incentive, with the ambitions and farming systems of his clients.

George thoroughly enjoys producing the Ceres Rural Quarterly Farming Update, drawing upon the range of expertise across the business in order to keep our clients and associates informed on the latest agricultural matters.

Away from work, George can be found bowling left arm orthodox on village greens, out beating with his terrier ‘Tiggy’, or spending time with his young family on the farm, or back in his home county of Norfolk.
