George grew up in rural Norfolk where farming, animal husbandry, wildlife and the countryside made up a considerable part of his fabric

At the age of 16, George left Norfolk to pursue a career in professional sport. George spent close to 10 years in Leicester playing with premiership side Leicester Tigers and England age-group sides, before injury curtailed his playing time in 2018.

His wife and he swiftly moved back to her family farm in Essex, where George took up a position teaching English Literature and coaching rugby in the local boarding school. In this time, George received a PGCE in English from the University of Buckingham. Holidays and spare time were spent keenly assisting with duties on farm and reconnecting with rural life.

George joined Ceres Rural as a Farming Consultant, looking forward to getting out on farm and undertaking his BASIS and FACTS qualifications. He is also hoping to draw upon his ecological and environmental knowledge and deploy it within his practice.

George has a keen interest in wildlife and all country pursuits; he particularly enjoys going beating with his terrier, Tiggy. Sport remains a focal part of George’s life, though mainly as an enthusiastic spectator.
