Harvest Worker Recruitment Programme – Arable Farm Placement

Location: Various UK locations (based on your preference)
Duration: Seasonal (typically July–October)
Reporting to: Business Owner / Farm Manager

Kickstart Your Agricultural Career This Summer

Looking for a paid summer role that gives you real, hands-on experience in agriculture? Join the Ceres Harvest Worker Recruitment Programme and spend your summer working on a commercial arable farm during the most exciting time of the year – harvest.

This role is ideal for students seeking practical experience alongside their studies—whether in agriculture, agribusiness, environmental sciences, or simply a passion for farming and rural life. You can also apply if you’re not a student but want hands-on farm experience. No two days are the same, and you’ll gain valuable insight into how a modern farm operates.

Applicants must be 18+

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Harvest Worker, you’ll be part of the farm team, supporting day-to-day operations during the busy harvest period. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with grain carting, trailer work, and harvest logistics
  • Supporting cultivations and drilling when required
  • Helping with basic maintenance, cleaning, and care of machinery
  • Getting involved in a range of general farm tasks
  • Working closely with experienced farm staff and learning on the job

What We Offer

  • Centralised induction day, including:
  • Health & Safety training
  •  Basic First Aid certification
  • Introduction to harvest operations and expectations
  • Hands-on experience on a working arable farm
  • Exposure to modern machinery and real-world harvest operations
  • The chance to build skills that employers value: teamwork, reliability, and problem-solving
  • Opportunities to make industry connections for future roles in farming, agronomy, or rural management

Who We’re Looking For

You don’t need loads of experience – attitude matters more than anything.

Experience

  • Previous farm experience is helpful but not essential
  •  An interest in agriculture or rural work is a big plus

Skills & Attributes

  • Reliable, hard-working, and willing to get stuck in
  • Happy to work outdoors and adapt to long days during harvest
  • Safety-conscious with a good level of communication
  • A positive team player with a willingness to learn

Values

  • Enthusiasm and curiosity
  • Integrity and professionalism
  • A genuine interest in developing practical skills
