Samuel Roderick

Graduate | Saffron Walden

With no farming background Sam developed a passion for agriculture through working on a mixed farm in Gloucestershire aged 16, since then he has worked on various farms across the UK, Australia and New Zealand. He has also completed a degree in Agricultural Business Management at the University of Nottingham which included the McDonald’s Progressive Young Farmer placement year in which he worked for McCain Foods (GB) Ltd.

Sam has an interest in all farming types but is particularly fascinated by the benefits of mixed farming and the integration of livestock into an arable system to support both systems, improve soil health and reduce costs. He is looking forward to completing his FACTS and Basis to further his crop knowledge and add another string to his bow.

Outside of work, Sam likes all sport particularly rugby and is a keen Gloucester Rugby fan. During the summer, he plays tennis and competes in the occasional triathlon.
