Looking for a paid summer role that gives you real, hands-on experience in agriculture? Join the Ceres Harvest Worker Recruitment Programme and spend your summer working on a commercial arable farm during the most exciting time of the year – harvest.Â
This role is ideal for students seeking practical experience alongside their studies—whether in agriculture, agribusiness, environmental sciences, or simply a passion for farming and rural life. You can also apply if you’re not a student but want hands-on farm experience. No two days are the same, and you’ll gain valuable insight into how a modern farm operates.Â

What You’ll Be Doing
As a Harvest Worker, you’ll be part of the farm team, supporting day-to-day operations during the busy harvest period. Typical responsibilities include:Â
- Assisting with grain carting, trailer work, and harvest logisticsÂ
- Supporting cultivations and drilling when requiredÂ
- Helping with basic maintenance, cleaning, and care of machineryÂ
- Getting involved in a range of general farm tasksÂ
- Working closely with experienced farm staff and learning on the jobÂ

Who We’re Looking For
You don’t need loads of experience – attitude matters more than anything.Â
ExperienceÂ
- Previous farm experience is helpful but not essentialÂ
- An interest in agriculture or rural work is a big plusÂ

- Happy to work outdoors and adapt to long days during harvestÂ

Applications will be reviewed by Ceres Rural. Successful applicants will be contacted to progress to the next stage. - Screening & Checks
Shortlisted candidates will complete:-  A short 10-minute screening telephone interviewÂ
- Right to work verificationÂ
- Review of any relevant licences or training certificatesÂ
- Provision of two reference contacts (references will not be taken at this stage)
- Placement & Client Interview
Candidate profiles are shared with Ceres Rural clients, who select applicants they wish to interview and decide whether to offer a placement on their farms. - Induction Day
Selected applicants will attend a centralised induction day run by Ceres Rural to prepare for harvest roles, including Health & Safety training and Basic First Aid certification.Â
